Missouri State University-West Plains will offer an eight-week industrial drafting program beginning Jan. 14, 2019, at the Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Technology (GOCAT).

The industrial drafting program is a non-credit course intended to provide students with hands-on, industry-relevant drafting, design and computer assisted drafting (CAD) training. Students will learn these skills using the most recent computer software, such as AutoCAD.

Those who enroll will develop fundamental skills in drafting and design of two-dimensional drawings and computer drafting techniques, officials said.

Other skill sets gained include the ability to:

  • implement appropriate techniques in drafting
  • interpret designs of engineers into technical drawings
  • design plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • create schematics that can be viewed, printed, or programmed directly into building information modeling systems

This course offers many benefits for those seeking the convenience of short-term evening classes, specialized training in a small class, and instruction from those with professional experience.

Classes will be offered Monday and Wednesday nights from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $400 per person. All training materials are included in the cost.
