Area small business owners and entrepreneurs can learn how to use social media to market their products during a 2019 spring intersession course at Missouri State University-West Plains.

Marketing for Small Businesses (EPR 150) is a one-credit-hour class that will present social media marketing strategies for small or start-up businesses, according to Tera Smith, a lecturer in the computer graphics and programming department.

Students will be introduced to a variety of social media platforms and will learn how to use each platform in business and marketing applications.

“The course will cover social media marketing and how best to use it, marketing campaigns, and how to track what is working and what isn’t with analytics,” Smith said. “We’ll also work on creating a website, discuss what search engine optimization is, and review tips that will get your business seen.

“I’d call it a small business marketing boot camp for less than a week and $150 in tuition and fees,” she added. “So, if you have a small business or are thinking about starting one, it’s a good class to take.”

The class will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day Jan. 7-11, 2019.

For more information about admission and registration procedures, call the Missouri State University-West Plains admissions office at 417-255-7955 or visit the university’s website.
