WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Ten students in Dr. Kathleen Morrison’s American Democracy and Citizenship (PLS 101) class were chosen to participate in a service learning project with 37th Judicial Circuit Court Judge David Evans during the 2018 spring semester.
The students attend selected law days observing actual court cases and are active participants in the court, which gives them greater insight into the legal process.
They are then required to write a two- to three-page essay about their experience and what they’ve learned and submit “thank-you” notes to Evans to receive 50 public service points and a certificate of completion from Evans.
Past participants have won internships and job opportunities in law enforcement and judicial fields, Morrison said.
